Apprenticeships

Congratulations to the 2019 Apprenticeship Class on receiving their diploma in Related Theory in Tool and Die Making Apprenticeship Program.

Interested in starting a career in manufacturing? IMS Buhrke-Olson has a world-class apprenticeship program for Tool & Die Makers. We have well-developed on-the-job learning for various competencies combined with related instruction from TMA.  We are in the process of registering our program for accreditation by the U.S. Department of Labor.

    Tool & Die 2nd Shift

    Job Functions

    Job Functions

    • Debug and troubleshoot close tolerance, compound, blank, draw, and progressive dies
    • Maintain close tolerance, compound, blank, draw, and progressive dies
    • Perform scheduled maintenance on close tolerance, compound, blank, draw, and progressive dies
    • Troubleshoot dies in the pressroom as needed.
    • Operate all basic toolroom equipment efficiently and safely
    • Read blueprints as needed
    • Basic computer skills
    • Create drawings as needed
    • Create spare parts as needed to print
    • Inspect piece parts as needed
    • Log die performance as needed

    Competencies

    • Education/Training – Must have a high school diploma. Must have a trade school certificate or equivalent work experience. GD&T, SPC, and blueprint classroom training preferred.
    • Experience – Must have a minimum of ten years of relevant die maintenance, building, and troubleshooting experience within a metal stamping manufacturing environment.
    • Language Skills – Must have above average communication skills, written and verbal in English
    • Computer Skills – Must have basic computer knowledge. Basic Auto Cad skills are required
    • Other – Must have own tools. Must have the ability to generate sketches and drawings from concepts.
